Habit can be as powerful as a drug.
I once read about a scientist who, using the theory that it takes 21 days to form a habit, would pick 3 new habits every month to form. Doesn’t that sound cool? What if you could change 3 bad habits every month, or form 3 new positive behaviors? Wouldn’t you feel powerful? You would own your world.
As an incrementalist, I would start small: in the first month, I would groove in the habit of meditating for 15 minutes every morning, after which I would work on my fiction writing for 3 hours each day, and then do my social networks for an hour.
Of course, the fly in the ointment is that you can’t always control your days, but what if you came close? What if you gave it a little extra time to allow for the off-days; say, 2 months instead of one, to solidify the 3 new habits? You’d still master 18 new habits a year. Master, not toy with. How great would that feel? How much you would accomplish!
Let’s get busy and master our worlds!

Good idea! I remember the state used that sort of info when it was trying to convince people to buckle their seat belts (though I think they were off in the number of days it requires to form a new habit). Anyway, keep us posted on how it works for you!

Now that I’ve said I’m going to do it, there’s no getting around it! So I will def. report back.
