I had a post ready to go, about reaching for your dreams in the new year, but somehow it seems disrespectful in view of Nelson Mandela’s passing. Instead I will cherish the feeling I’m left with, of being motivated to reach higher, to do better, and to be a better person. My condolences to all who loved him. Mid-Friday update: I just became aware of a beautiful, thoughtful post about Mr. Mandela. I recommend you check it out here.

Mandela himself would appreciate the sentiment of your “dreams.” For it was his dream which created a better world for his people.

Lovely tribute to an incredible human being who brought out the best in others.

The man’s smiles shows a great love for humans and the love that he wishes us all to have for each other.

He was a true inspiration to blacks the world over. Incarcerated for 27 years?! He was in his early 70’s when he was released and look what he did with the time he had left. I’d better get busy and work on my bucket list!
Lynne Spreen says
To everyone, Kathy. And yes to the bucket list, too.

Lynn – I think that post would have been very much in line with what Mandela stood for. So why not post it?! I,too, felt moved by his life and death and posted last night: http://beautyalongtheroad.wordpress.com/2013/12/05/nelson-mandela-light-of-inspiration/

Succinctly and remarkably said.

“The unexamined life is not worth living.” So said Socrates. And while this may be a bit harsh I am reminded of it today because I look back on my life and realize I am not really leaving it any better place for having lived, unless my progeny do something remarkable for mankind. Thanks Nelson for reminding me it’s not too late to make a difference.
Lynne Spreen says
He was a giant, Marilyn. Maybe the best we can do in comparison is show our progeny how to be good people. In that sense you have already done something remarkable for mankind.
